What's on my plate? (Healthy Triple Chocolate Brownie)

Ok so.. Who doesn't love chocolate?  If you don't like chocolate I'm not sure if I can trust you.  This recipe is a MUST for all my peeps with a huge sweet tooth that are trying to stay on the healthy gain train.  HEALTHY (yes, healthy) triple fudge brownie coming at ya here.  EPIC.  This thing literally tastes like the molten lava cake from Applebee's.  Drool.

If you are apart of our Be Well Summer Nutrition Challenge, you already know that each day we give you a prompt to follow and prove to us that you are doing as a part of the challenge.  A couple days ago, the prompt was to recreate an unhealthy meal and make it in a healthy way.  I have never been good at creating "healthy" or "paleo" or "protein packed" baked goods.  Some proteins just don't bake well they never end up tasting the way I want them to.  But I think I have finally found a protein that works well with this and succeeded with this recipe because it is BOMB!  It totally tastes like the most unhealthy, chocolately, decadent, evil treat. 

I have always been hesitant to buy vegan/plant based protein due to the weird earthy taste it tends to have.  However, this protein I bought and used for this recipe made me reconsider.  It's called Orgain Organic Chocolate Fudge Protein.  I got it from the Vitamin Shop for $35.

I have never tried it just with water in a shake... Only in a smoothie, to make chocolate pudding, and most recently in this brownie creation.  I would highly recommend the taste and consistency though.  Not to mention the fact that it's a super clean, organic, and plant based.  A lot of protein powders make my stomach hurt, but this one never has.  Most likely because of the clean ingredients!

I also used No Pudge Fudge Brownie Mix as a part of this recipe.  I think this is what also made it taste like a real brownie.  This stuff is so awesome... All you do is add either water or 0% plain greek yogurt to make fudgey brownies with 0g of fat.  There are only a few ingredients in this brownie mix which is good to know as well.  No extra crappy ingredients like hydrogenated oils, refined sugar, or words that I can't even pronounce.

Below are the nutrition facts and ingredients:

I didn't use yogurt here.. All I did was add water until the consistency was like pudding.  Best part about this recipe is that it's only 4 ingredients!!!  So easy.

Here's what you will need for the brownie:

  • 2 scoops (46g) Orgain Organic Chocolate Fudge Protein
  • .5 oz No Pudge Fudge Brownie Mix
  • 10g Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Chips
  • A couple dashes of baking powder


  1. Mix the protein, no pudge fudge mix, and baking powder together.
  2. SLOWLY add water until the mix is like a pudding consistency.
  3. Add the chocolate chips on top.  Or you can stir them in the batter.  I like having them melt on the top :)
  4. Put in the microwave for about 45 seconds.  This will leave the middle a little bit gooey, which I really like.  But if you want it a little more cooked I would say leave it in the mic for more like a minute or so.

Macros: 6F/ 31C/ 28P - and 6 fiber!

Look at how fudgey it looks!  Totally satisfied my chocolate craving for the day.  I have been eating this all week for my post workout treat and It has a perfect breakdown for post workout nutrition.

If you don't have this specific protein I mentioned here, I'm not 100% sure if it will turn out well.  Like I said before, some proteins just really don't bake well and taste like crap when you warm it up.  So if you're going to try and duplicate this recipe I'd highly recommend getting the Orgain protein I talked about!  It's totally worth it and you can use it in so many different ways.  Not to mention the fact that it's an awesome protein to fuel your body with because of it's vegan, plant based ingredients.
