Eating Seasonally

Eating with the season is something that people don't often think about, but it is an important thing for both your health and your wallet. Spring is upon us and with it comes lots of awesome seasonally foods that you should be eating. By eating seasonally you are reaping the best benefits from your food. Food that is eaten in the season it optimally grows has a higher nutritional value then those foods that aren’t in season. Plus, many of these foods are local, so you will also be helping to support our local growers and they cost less for you!

This season brings with it lots of vegetables including spring onions, watercress, rainbow chard, asparagus, artichokes, broccoli, brussel sprouts, celery, fennel, green onions, pea greens, radishes and baby turnips.

Here are some awesome recipes using some of the season’s best offerings:

Grilled Asparagus and Salmon Frittata from PaleOMG - http://paleomg.com/grilled-salmon-asparagus-frittata/

Broccoli Salad from Health Bent
Perfect roasted brussel sprouts from Gimme Some Oven
Roasted Fennel and Tomatoes
Fresh Radish and Ricotta.
Be sure to visit your local farmer's markets, especially as the weather warms up and buy these seasonal vegetables from local sources! They will be super fresh and you will save lots of money.
Hope these recipes inspire you to cook seasonally this Spring!
