5 Tips to Snack Smarter

Snacking can either help you or really hurt you. Snacking the right way can be easy if you think of these 5 tips!
  1. Eat Mindfully 
Use mindful techniques while you are eating your snack do not eat in front of the tv, eat without distractions. This means thinking ahead, planning snacks and portioning appropriately.
2. Snack on citrus
Citrus helps lower insulin levels thus helping with appetite management. 
3. Combine Protein and Carbs
 Carbs offer energy and protein helps keep you fuller longer as they break down slower in your body.
4. Eat Cold Things
Frozen grapes, for example are a good snack- because you naturally eat them slower.
5. Make your Snacks Count
Things like celery and peanut butter, yogurt and fruit, hummus and veggies are relatively low in calories, high in fiber, and high in micronutrient breakdown. Try to plan your snacks so they make the biggest impact all around for you.
